The Bluffton Public Library has numerous programs for kids of all ages. In addition to special one-time events, the library's Youth Services department offers weekly programs for all ages throughout most of the year. These programs include At the Library After School (ATLAS), Storytime, and the Teen Advisory Board meetings. The library also hosts the Summer Reading Program, which encourages kids of all ages to read books, and includes a wide variety of fun and educational programs.
Storytime is an early learning experience for preschool children age 3-5 held Mondays at 6:30 pm, and Tuesday at 10:00 am. Each session is approximately 35 minutes long. During Storytime, we introduce children to literature through books, songs, finger plays, crafts, and other activities. The Bluffton Public Library is also participating in the state wide initiative, Ready to Read, whose goal is to better prepare children to succeed as learners. Storytime breaks during the months of December, May, and August. Due to limited space, participants in Storytime must register at the front desk. ATLAS is held at the library from 3:30 - 4:30 pm Tuesdays, September through April with a break during the holiday season. The program is open to children in 1st - 5th grade. ATLAS provides a fun learning experience, incorporating books (fiction and non-fiction), games, crafts, and snacks. It provides an opportunity for children to interact with peers of a different age. Due to limited space, children must register for this program at the front desk. Though it is not required, we also request that each participant sign-up to provide a snack for one week. Accelerated Reader List We now have the Accelerated Reader List being used by the Bluffton school system. Many of the books on the list are in our collection. Parents and children can ask to see the list which is kept at the circulation desk. We are in the process of placing Accelerated Reader stickers on each book to make them easy to find. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions! Ellison Dies Our collection of Ellison Dies are available to the public and located in the back of the library near the Shannon Local History Room. Please click on the button below to view a full list of the dies in our collection.
